In the past three offseasons, the Green Bay Packers have cycled through a handful of veteran tight ends. Marcedes Lewis, the 12-year veteran of the Jacksonville Jaguars, is the most recent.
Jared Cook two years ago. Then, last year, they signed Martellus Bennett and Lance Kendricks. Now, this offseason, they’ve added Lewis and Jimmy Graham.
If I had a dime for every veteran TE the #Packers have signed the past few offseasons, I’d buy some Milk Duds.

Lewis is a big dude, standing 6-foot-6 and weighing 267 pounds, and run blocking one of his strengths. (Which is good, because blocking is not one of Graham’s strengths.)
So many good blocks from Marcedes Lewis in 2017… Can handle himself head up/in line vs DEs! Here sealing off Clowney…#Packers need a TE compliment to Jimmy Grahams skillset. pic.twitter.com/HknPiZd4fW

Since Jermichael Finley’s career came to an end in 2013, the Packers have struggled to find his long-term replacement. They spent a third-round pick on Richard Rodgers the very next draft in 2014, and have been searching for the answer ever since, primarily through veteran free agents.
