Green Bay Packers rookies got their first taste of professional football over the weekend at Rookie Orientation.
From the top picks — Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson — to the tryout guys — like Wisconsin’s Joe Ferguson — it was an eventful weekend inside the Don Hutson Center.
As the Packers’ first two picks, at the same position, Alexander and Jackson will be linked throughout their careers. Alexander is definitely the more outgoing of the two, although he says he’s a big fan of Jackson’s work, going back to a conversation they had at the NFL Scouting Combine in February.
“He was by himself, I think I came over there and cracked a joke on him,” Alexander said. “That’s where we started … I told I saw him on TV, I told him I thought he should have won the (Jim Thorpe Award) you know, and that’s kind of how we started talking.”
Jackson thinks it’s a good thing that he and Alexander are coming in at the same time.
“That’s my boy,” Jackson said. “We’re definitely here to work hard … push each other, push everyone else around us.”
