Clay Matthews left the game in Denver midway through the first quarter.
Seeing as it’s the preseason, a starter being pulled early is nothing out of the ordinary.
But on Monday afternoon, Mike McCarthy hinted at Matthews having an injury. When asked about the defensive line, McCarthy said, “We just got a little thin there with the pass rushers going out of the game there fast with Clay, Nick (Perry) and Jayrone (Elliott) going out.”
Later in the locker room, Kyler Fackrell added some fuel to the fire. When asked about the team visiting with free-agent Ahmad Brooks, Fackrell said, “With Clay and Nick going down with whatever they have, it does kind of make you realize how quickly a position can become not deep.”
What’s the deal with Clay Matthews? We’re on it.
