The wild and crazy, tangled knot that was the Eastern Conference playoff picture has been sorted out.
The Milwaukee Bucks will be the No. 7 seed, and they’ll take on the No. 2 seed Boston Celtics in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. Game one will be Sunday at noon in Boston.
The Celtics, of course, have been playing without prized offseason acquisition Gordon Hayward since the first game of the season, and their other offseason addition — Kyrie Irving — was declared out for the rest of the season last week. On paper, the Celtics are not your typical No. 2 seed, and the Bucks certainly have the talent to make things interesting.
How’d the Bucks make this happen? Well, by getting blown out by 35 points Wednesday in Philadelphia, of course. That, and a win by the Miami Heat and a loss by the Washington Wizards.
Now, the Bucks and Heat will flip a coin to determine who picks 16th and 17th in the draft. If the Bucks win the coin toss, their 16th pick goes to Phoenix in the Eric Bledsoe trade. If they lose the coin toss, they win. Kind of. They’d keep the 17th pick. (Make sense?)
