The Chicago Cubs signed starter Yu Darvish to a six-year deal worth $126 million.
So while the Cubs add another starter to the rotation, the Milwaukee Brewers are still searching. The Crew was rumored to have a “nine-figure” offer on the table to Darvish, but Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports those numbers may have been “greatly exaggerated.”
When I reached out via text to Stearns for comment, perhaps he was giving me a huge hint with his first words: “Don’t have much to comment on.”
Was he hinting that he never put in an offer on Darvish? The more I thought about it, the more I thought so.
Either way, Darvish is off the table.
Where could the Brewers look now for a starting pitcher?
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports the Brewers have talked to the Diamondbacks about Patrick Corbin, and the Rays about Jake Odorizzi.
