“I’ve been told my natural resting gaze is not a pleasant one,” Packers defensive coordinator Mike Pettine said Wednesday. “There’s not much I can do about that. Blame my parents for that one.”
The man Mike McCarthy picked to lead his defense has a tough-guy look. But listening to him talk X’s and O’s — like the former quarterback that he is — it’s another example of the old saying “Don’t judge a book by its cover.”
“I’ve heard that,” Pettine said of his look. “I think it’s important, though, that the players see it a certain way but they understand, too, the thinking that goes behind it. I always like to explain the why.”
