The Green Bay Packers found their next general manager. Brian Gutekunst will reportedly replace Ted Thompson as the head personnel man in Green Bay.
Gutekunst was one of three in-house candidates to take Thompson’s job. Russ Ball and Eliot Wolf both interviewed for the job, also.
Before Gutekunst got the job in Green Bay, he was set to interview with the Houston Texans.
Gutekunst came to Houston Saturday but never interviewed today cause he accepted the job to remain with Packers.

There were a lot of rumors that Ball was the frontrunner for the job, but Gutekunst reportedly impressed in his interview.
Packers are hiring Brian Gutekunst as GM, ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed. Gutekunst is the most well-rounded scout in the personnel department and knocked it out of the park in his interview. https://t.co/3uN8RcsWqm

And as far as a “shared job,” with Gutekunst and Ball each sharing power, it appears this is Gutekunst’s job, period.
I apologize for being wrong. Brian Gutekunst isn’t splitting the job with Ball as I said. He has full control of personnel. Before the Packers offered Gutekunst the GM job, he had dinner with Bill O’Brien Saturday night.
