Earlier this week on Twitter, former Packers tight end Jermichael Finley questioned the ongoing protests during the national anthem in the NFL.
Before deleting the tweet, it read: “Athletes are looked up to & serve as roll models, leave personal opinions about race and politics alone. Do what you get paid to do & play!”
Of course, Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett sat during the national anthem during Seattle’s first preseason game. Meanwhile, Bennett’s brother Martellus has taken Jermichael’s old position as the starting tight end for the Green Bay Packers.
Martellus questioned Finley on Twitter: “What role are you modeling?”
Since then, Finley has taken a proactive approach to the issue.
I've taken my own advice & reached out to someone, so I can educate myself on how to contribute to solving racial injustices in America.
