In terms of playing time with the Packers No. 1 defense, Damarious Randall’s loss is Kevin King’s gain.
Randall remains in the concussion protocol after the preseason opener, according to head coach Mike McCarthy, which means King has gotten more time with the first-team defense in the nickel, along with Quinten Rollins and Davon House. With three corners on the field, Rollins bumps inside to the slot with King and House on the perimeter.
At Tuesday’s practice, King made a couple plays, including breaking up a pass deep over the middle from Aaron Rodgers, intended for Davante Adams. King also simultaneously caught a pass with Geronimo Allison at Tuesday’s practice. Even though Allison wrestled it away, the Packers’ top rookie certainly showed up on several occasions.
In the preseason opener against the Philadelphia Eagles, there was some good and some not-so-good from King. (Check out NFL.com’s analysis of King’s debut here)
King is the focus of today’s Training Camp Update at 11:35, 1:35, 3:35 and 6:35, and Marques caught up with him in the Packers locker room. Hear what he had to say this morning on “Air it Out.” (9-11 AM)
