At the All-Star Break, the Brewers held a comfortable 5 1/2-game lead over the Cubs and Cardinals in the NL Central.
Now less than a week into the “second half,” the Brewers’ cushion has thinned to just a 2 1/2-game lead over the Cubs. The Cubs haven’t lost (5-0) since the Break.
Meanwhile in Milwaukee — or Pittsburgh — the Brewers have gone cold, losing three straight games, and the first two in their series against the Pirates. Frustration boiled over on Tuesday night, as manager Craig Counsell and third baseman Travis Shaw were ejected. (Read the story at JSOnline)
Oh, by the way, the umpire made a poor call on a Shaw strikeout, and didn’t give a real warning to either Shaw or Counsell before throwing them out of the game.
